From my Mother's Bible – Blog 4
Greetings! Thank you for the kind words and all the likes for this Blog. My mother's name was Polly for those who are just getting acquainted with her through this Blog. She was 91 when she left for her heavenly home. She had had a good life, much like most of us who have trials and troubles she had lots of joy in her life because of her relationship with Jesus! Here are some more of the wisdom I have found in her Bible. Enjoy!
Prayer is the Divine in us, appealing to the Divine above us. C.H. Dodd
God is on the side of the oppressed
reconcilers (unity of His people)
the Church (called out ones)
God is too wise to make a mistake and too good to do evil. Rankin
Fear is Satan's secret agent.
To Examine Scripture
Language – poetic- culturally conditioned – What kind of words are these?
History – culture – What connection to time? When did it happen?
What standard do we use? - The teaching of Jesus Christ
What is ' the meaning? - Without study we are biased. Evaluate, Interpret, Apply.
God's Grace – helps us to receive what we do not deserve.
God's Mercy sees to it that we do not get what we do deserve.
God's peace is the result of receiving God's Grace and Mercy.
God's wrath is the consequence of my choice to live outside of His love.
If God loves me only when I'm good, then I can control God.
Leadership is not planning programs but is creating visions.
Emotional maturity is the result of the confidence for the future that is ours in the Hope of the Gospel.
Faithful – a long obedience in the same direction.
Never ruin an apology with an excuse.
O God, forgive me from this lust of always justifying myself.
Joy is the ecstasy of being loved by God!
